Topic: Do NT's do this?

+ Eels !outYoUYoU.3 weeks ago #12,287

when i'm at home, i often run around the house screaming, turning my head around, clapping my hands, etc. when i feel a surge of energy. i also sometimes roll and slide on the floor saying "beep beep i'm a tractor". i also often lay on my bed and start moving my limbs around while making loud "euuuuhhhhh" noises. what could be causing this? and is this behavior within the "limits of normal"?

I've been thinking more and more recently that many neuroypicals are just as pathological as many covered by the DSM. With that in mind, I thought I'd put together the following to define the pathological neurotypical. This is not to say that all neurotypicals are pathological but, as a gedanken experiment I thought I'd see what a pathological neurotypical might look like.

Sadly, I've encountered a lot of humans who fit the following description.

The patient must exhibit at least six of the following:

1) Marked dishonesty. This may express as an excessive concern for social reputation. http://www.pnas.org/content/108/42/17302

2) Marked interest in trivial pursuits (drinking, sports, soap operas, shopping etc)

3) Impaired higher executive function. The patient has an IQ of under 115.

4) Impaired concentration (the patient's concentration will be limited to no more than 20 minutes, or however long it takes to find the next TV channel)

5) Impaired theory of mind. The patient may consider only the intentions of their actions, and not the consequences. Pathology is indicated where the consequences are solipsistic, resulting in the patient regarding as acceptable, or simply not considering, adverse consequences for those more vulnerable than they are (including nonhuman animals). (NB: this is also characteristic of sociopathic disorders: those scoring highly on this scale, such as bankers, welfare administrators, politicians and those employed by immigration services organisations, should be tested separately by an expert clinician.)

6) Limited focus (the patient will be interested in many different subjects, and unable to focus on one to the exclusion of others).

7) Low sensitivity to all stimuli. The patient will not respond to any heightened stimuli.

8 ) Shows marked distress when isolated. The patient requires to be in a group or work in a team and will be unable to take pleasure in their own company for over 24 hours.

9) The basis of humour is trivialised, and may be limited to commentary on the misfortunes of others (schadenfreude). If the patient has ever watched more than 10 minutes of a Hollywood “comedy” and enjoyed it, this may be taken by the clinician to indicate pathology.

10) The patient depends heavily on nonverbal communication, and may fail to develop adequate written language skills.

The patient may also exhibit an inefficient flat-footed gait.

AND

The patient does not exhibit traits required for a diagnosis of another disorder.

OP is some horrible troll who thinks he's fooling anyone, when really he's just another stupid kid with no goals or life so he constantly posts about shit that doesn't happen because he puts too much weight on his crutch of autism.

It's his fault, everything is his fault.

somebody created this theory that autistics are part neanderthal and this theory makes a lot of sense. what's especially impressive is that this theory was conceived before scientists concluded that non-africans have neanderthal DNA so the theory had predictive validity.

It should be easy to test. I believe the latest research in indicating that Neanderthal genes appear in most of humanity. But Africans and a few other sub-groups do not have those genes. If the incidence of autism is different between the two, then you would at least establish a correlation.

@161,529 (Namefag)
Yeah see you don't want to get along. That's the problem with some self-advocates. My intent is to get along with more positive approaches. You also hate A's. There is no reasoning with this kind of style. Unless you're willing to outline a few or even one issues we can go ahead and discuss it logically.

If you are socially adept enough to sense the implied message behind my comment then you would also know that posting that image over and over and having only one topic of conversation, autism, is not normal.

why is it that people (even good friends) often think that i'm going to follow them places, go somewhere i'm not invited, or just plain refuse to leave? i don't do this. i really don't do any of these things. especially not the former two. i'll admit sometimes i am not sure when the appropriate time to leave a social situation is, but usually my solution to this is to leave very quickly, arguably soon enough to qualify as rude. occasionally i will stay too long, but that usually is embarrassing enough that i very rarely make that blunder.

I find the inability of most NTs to state their truth (and leave it to whomever to either take it in and make use of it or throw it in a waste basket) and the incessant social dances around even the possibility of truth telling to be crazy making. And if I stop being me, and stating my truth, and try to draw a boundary, I get slapped for it. They tend to expect my truth telling shop to be open 24 hours even as they shy away from speaking the truth themselves.

As a skilled mediator and a crisis counselor, I learned techniques (delivered with great care) that helped me help NTs talk, but I find that the same skills in social situations appear to be very much unappreciated because avoidance seems to be the way of life for most NTs that I know. Life seems to be all about protecting one's ego, one's delusions, rather than opening up to possibility.

And they say that we folk with Aspergers don't like change.

Yeah, I like (basically need) my dishwasher to be filled the same way each time, yes, I like people to say what they mean and mean what they say, yes, I expect people to follow through on promises, yes, I could eat yogurt every day for breakfast for the rest of my life. But that doesn't mean I am closed to change or working with people. The NTs I know, while saying they are open, seem far more interested in defending their perceptions of the world than expanding them. I find that weird, very weird.

· Anonymous C3 weeks ago, 52 seconds later, 1 hour after the original post[T] [B] #161,561

@161,554 (Namefag)
NT idea of appropriate = Everyone is doing it
NT idea of inappropriate = Only few are doing it

This is why they often BLAME a person who happens to announce an unpopular truth or a person who fights back against several people at once. According to them, if you don't have a high status, you should be subordinate to them. It baffles their mind that there would actually be a person who cares more about personal justice as opposed to group dynamics.

It has been my experience that most NT's don't really like to learn new things once they are an adult. They just want to socialize, work, and relax. It seems as though a large part of their daily life is just talking about what they do, people they know do, or famous people do. All they are concerned with is other NT activities and little else.

I love learning new things, generally relating to my interests, but in many cases even if it is not something I'm interested in new information is welcome if it is intriguing or relevant.

The universe is such a big place, and I love learning how and why it all works, and what all is out there. As such, I find the daily lives of people to be largely irrelevant and unimportant. Where as to NT's that is all that is important. Most of them couldn't care less about anything that doesn't affect them, or other NT's, directly.

Now before anyone says, "I don't think that's true at all, etc." pay attention to the wording of my first sentence. I said, "it has been my experience..." meaning what I have said is true of the people I know and have met. So, if that is not your experience that is fine, but it doesn't mean I am incorrect.

Autistic people typically lose their cool when confronted with an opposing point of view on an issue they take seriously, also they throw tantrums randomly when insulted. OP is not autistic.
